Job Summary

The Depth Hardware group at Apple develops depth-sensing hardware such as the revolutionary TrueDepth camera that powers FaceID. This multi-disciplinary group of engineers is responsible for architecture, research, and manufacturing development of these highly complex sensing systems for Apple products. The Depth Hardware team is seeking a Validation and Test engineer to help verify and validate Depth HW through ground-truth station development, opto-mechanical fixture design, benchmarking and analysis. Cross-Functional engagement is expected.

Key Qualifications

  • Individual should have strong skills in the areas of sensor calibration, characterization, requirement verification, systems analysis, and organizational skills. The individual will be expected to learn concepts associated with depth sensors and work both independently and with a cross functional team to validate innovative solutions to challenging technical problems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are desired.
  • Must haves:
  • •Experience with general sensor characterization (e.g., cameras, depth sensors).
  • •Experience with setting-up and operating sensor test equipment.
  • •Ability to understand and interpret characterization data from sensing hardware.
  • Experience or interest in opto-mechanics and the design of fixtures for the purpose of sensor verification and validation testing efforts.

Description

The individual must have experience with calibration and verification- and validation-testing of depth sensors. Mechanical engineering for the purpose of fixture design for depth sensor testing is preferred. The potential hire must also have strong organizational skills for cross-functional interaction. The ideal candidate will have an inclination towards optics, opto-mechanics, spatial-temporal and spatial-spectral implementations for depth sensor systems analysis, design and test.
