Research Experience for Undergrads

Dear Colleagues,

Please share the following information about our 2015 REU Program with your undergraduate students.  Note that in addition to Electrical and Computer Engineering majors, this program is open to students in Materials Science, Bioengineering, and Physics.  If you could forward this information to these other departments at your institution it would be greatly appreciated.

The Holcombe Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Clemson University is seeking applicants for a summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.  This NSF funded program is entitled:  "REU Site:  Solid-State Devices for Electronics, Photonics, and Magnetics Technology".  The REU supports up to 10 summer students, with one to four semesters remaining in their undergraduate programs, to become involved with a faculty member and graduate students for a 10 week research experience at Clemson.  The program is open to undergraduate students in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science, Bioengineering, and Physics.  Closely related disciplines may also be considered.  The program provides summer housing on campus for the students and pays a generous stipend.

Attached is a Flyer describing the program, with a link to the REU Program Web site.  Interested students can apply from this site.  The link is:

Microsoft Internships in Optics

Hello All,

I wanted to reach out and introduce myself as the Microsoft recruiter partnering with the UCF campus.  Over the last few years I’ve hired excellent software engineers from your university, and Microsoft is looking to expand its recruiting footprint at UCF to include Optical Engineers.  We have some exciting things happening at our company that we were finally able to announce this week including Windows Holographic, and the HoloLense headset.

We are currently hiring for Full-time and Intern positions in Optics, and will be hosting interviews beginning in early February.  I’ve attached the Internship job posting to this mail for your review- the full time posting would be very similar.  Should you have any students that you feel would be a great candidate for either of these opportunities, I would appreciate an introduction or a referral.

If there is a way to circulate this opportunity to a student Email list, I would greatly appreciate it.  I ask that interested students be able to send me their resume no later than Friday, January 30th.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks in advance for any assistance in connecting me with your talented students!
