Position: Program Management Premier College Internship for Summer 2023

 

Eglin Air Force Base, Florida


 

Premier College Internship Program (PCIP):

 

PCIP is a program whereby students in their junior year of a full-time baccalaureate program will be able to apply for a full-time paid internship at Eglin AFB, FL for 10-12 weeks during the summer college session. This opportunity targets individuals who are seeking a dynamic career with the Air Force Civilian Service by offering real-world Program Management experience. It is a tremendous opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to pursue a successful Program Management career with the Air Force Civilian Service. 

 

Program Management – Program Managers integrate and lead multi-functional teams in executing the mission by managing cost, schedule, and performance of a defense acquisition program to ensure high-quality, affordable, supportable, and effective defense systems are delivered to the warfighter in a timely manner.

 

Eglin Air Force Base:

 

Eglin AFB is located in Okaloosa County, in northwest Florida, comprising over 640 square miles. This is a military friendly area and also a major tourist attraction due to the white sandy beaches. Eglin is located 8 miles northwest of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; 60 miles East of Pensacola, FL; and 65 miles West of Panama City, FL. Eglin’s primary mission is to support, develop, test, and acquire war-winning weapons. We test and evaluate state-of-the-art weapons for the warfighter, provide superior installation support, and serve as responsible stewards of our resources.

 

Eglin AFB houses the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (NWC), and the Air Force Research Laboratories (AFRL). Combined with our other service organizations, the men and women of Eglin provide expert evaluation and validation of the performance of systems throughout the design, development, acquisition, and sustainment process to ensure the warfighter has technologically superior, reliable, maintainable, sustainable, and safe systems. We are responsible for complete developmental tests and evaluations across the complete system life cycle for a wide variety of customers including: other Air Force logistics and product centers; major Air Force commands; other DoD services and U.S. Government agencies; foreign military sales (FMS); and private industry.

 

 

Benefits: 

 

v  Salary:  Starting annual salary is at the General Pay Schedule (GS) level-04 if >60 credit hours or GS-05 if >120 credit hours. Click here to view GS Pay Scale.  Upon completion of the 12-week summer session, interns may be given the opportunity to continue working on a part-time basis until graduation.

 

v  After college graduation and upon successful program requirement completion, a Premier College Intern may be offered a career, career-conditional appointment into the Air Force Palace Acquire or similar development training program without further competition. Starting salary for a management trainee is GS-07 with a Bachelor’s degree.

     

v  Leave and Holidays: There are ten paid federal holidays, plus accrued sick and annual leave during every two-week pay period. Sick leave is accrued at 4 hours per pay period. Annual leave is accrued at 4 hours per pay period (0-3 years of service).

 

v  Training: The Government offers formal classroom training as well as online courses through the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) where you have the opportunity to achieve professional level certifications in various acquisition career fields; i.e. program management, contracting, finance, etc. In addition to the training required for certification, the Government also offers a variety of courses that help with your daily work environment ranging from leadership and change management to learning to use different computer software.

 

v  Travel: Opportunities exist both foreign and domestic.      

 

 

Conditions of Employment: 

 

v  Must meet suitability requirements for Federal employment.

 

v  Must be at least 16 years of age.

 

v  Position may be subject to random drug testing.

 

v  Must sign a Participant Agreement.

 

v  Must meet the qualification standards of the position.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

For entrance into the Premier College Intern Program, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

 

v  Must be a U.S. Citizen

 

v  Enrolled in an approved full-time program seeking a Baccalaureate or a Master’s degree from an accredited College or University

 

v  Targeting those who will graduate in the December 2023 through Aug 2024 time frame

 

v  Have a 2.95 or higher cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale

 

v  Have at least one year of full-time hours/credits left in degree program

 

v  Must be able to begin internship no later than 1 Jun 2023.

 

v  Live near or are willing to move (at your own expense) near the location of employment

 

v  Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance (Air Force will fund the clearance)

Florida Executive Women Scholarship

 

Dear Community Partners and Colleagues: the application period for the Florida Executive Women (FEW) Scholarship is now open. Please help promote the opportunity to receive a $3000 academic scholarship in your circles.

 

Eligibility

  • This opportunity is only applicable to junior and senior female students.
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Financial need of at least $3,000.

 

Misc.

  • FEW plans to award five (5) scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each – one (1) each to a student of
      • Bethune-Cookman University,
      • Hamilton Holt School of Rollins College,
      • Seminole State College of Florida,
      • University of Central Florida (woot! woot!), and
      • Valencia College.
  • Note: The scholarship recipient must be a student of one of these schools. If the recipient transfers from the school to which the scholarship is given, it will not transfer with the student.
